What Is A Sales Funnel? (How Does It Differ From A Website?)

When I first heard the term “Sales Funnel”, I didn’t have a clue as to what it meant!  If you don’t know the meaning of “Sales Funnel”, I am going to share some great information with you!

Sales funnels are extremely important if you want to increase the sales in your business!

What Is A Sales Funnel?

A sales funnel is similar to a website (in appearance only); however, it is very different and serves a different purpose.

And that purpose is to capture potential customer’s information. Focus specifically on the product you’re trying to sell. And to maximize the sale by providing the customer with options for the product or service you’re trying to sell!

Sales Funnels and Website serves two different purposes.  Websites, for the most part, are purely informational. You can make sales with an eCommerce Website, but it is much different from a Sales Funnel.

With a Sales Funnel, the primary purposes are to capture information (leads) and make sales!!

Elements Of A Sales Funnel

A Sales Funnel consists of many different elements (but not limited to):

  1. Squeeze page to capture emails
  2. Sales pages that contain information about your product or service
  3. The ability to offer lead magnets (free eBooks, Articles, etc.)
  4. Countdown timers (to create scarcity)
  5. Upsell and Downsell pages
  6. Bridge pages (includes a video to provide more info on the product you’re selling)

There are also different types of sales funnel software available. Some include: (Clickfunnels, Builderall, Thrive Themes, LeadPages, Kartra, etc.) but in my opinion, the best is Clickfunnels by far!

Example

Here’s a simple example of how a sales funnel works. Let’s say you have a customer go through your sales funnel and the first product they see is a printer.

Once they purchase the printer, they are taken to another page where they’re offered ink for the printer.  After purchasing the ink, they are taken to another page where they can purchase printer paper…

Do you see the power of this?  Your sales funnel can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. It can have as many elements or steps as you need it to!

Additionally, you can use sales funnels again and again for every product or service you sell!  I would also like to re-emphasize the fact that sales funnels can be used to sell products and services!

What would’ve happened if the same potential customer went to your website?  Well, they would’ve been distracted by everything else on your website. Or they may have just purchased the printer and nothing else!

I’m not hating on websites and I think they’re very useful. In fact, everybody should have one, but you must have a sales funnel if you are a business owner!
